My capstone for my MPA degree was experiential in nature and teamwork was part of the process. A student group, Innova, facilitated the first innovation “Pizza” process for the Monterey Institute of International Studies. We were five MPA students who had studied Advance Non-profit Management looking to apply what we’ve learned. We facilitated the process, bringing 16 new ideas to the community, and then evaluated the process through surveys, focus groups and personal interviews. Our summary and recommendations were then presented to the community which included the President of the institute. Many of our recommendations were taken, including one that created my current work position at MIIS.
